Reflect & Grow
The aim of the course is to develop your abilities as a 'reflective practitioner', which, means that you are someone who can think about what you are doing, learn from it, and develop your work in the future.
The core of this process is the time you spend every week documenting some of the things that have happened during your practice and trying to see what you can learn from it. The sheet you need to fill in for this is the Weekly Reflective Report. This is available by clicking on the link below to get it as a Word template for you to type in and save. Bear in mind that, although you are using the same form, level 2/3 students need to produce a more expansive reflection .
When completed, the reflection should demonstrate your competence in one of the areas defined by the Annual Review Form, and you should note the relevant competence area on the top of the Reflective Report.
If you have an email account on the computer you are using, you should be able to email the completed report directly to your tutor at college.
Over the course of the year, you should try and reflect on as many areas of youthwork practice as you can. A useful guide to doing this would be the Annual Review form, which lists out the areas of competence we expect you to demonstrate over the period of your studies.
You are expected to submit your Weekly Reflective Report by 4pm on Friday. Your course tutor will give you regular feedback on the reports you submit.
